Hello all! Ok, my cats have peed outside of their litter box on my carpet!! UGH!!! I have steam cleaned three times and the smell is STILL overwhelming! Does anyone have any suggestions to get the smell out??

Happy Cyber Monday to all! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Mine was bittersweet... So, now is the time to move on to the Christmas lists! In case you haven't noticed, my web store has been closed for the past 2 months. A lot of changes have been going on in my personal life and I just have not had time to keep up with candle orders or customer service. I will open back up soon. Aren't friends amazing? So many people come in and out of our lives, but only a select few are true friends. I have some of the most amazing friends in the world, and I am so appreciative of them all! I have had a very difficult time in my life over the past few months, and thank goodness that I had my friends to support me. Summer Time Blues

Today is July 22, 2010....exactly 2 weeks until the first day of school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't express enough my excitement!!! This has been a very trying summer to say the least! With my spouse and I both out of work and both at home with 3 kids all summer....need I say more?!?!? We only went out of town once for 4 days for a funeral in Kentucky, and the kids have been dying to go to the beach, but alas we cannot afford that this year. Anyway, my husband and I are both going back to school this Fall also!! This economy was just the motivation I needed to get me wanting to improve my life. I am 31 years old with just a high school diploma...not going far with that these days that's for sure.... I must say that I am excited about going back to school, although I am a little nervous! I go for my placements test next Monday, so hopefully I will do well enough on that so I wont have to take remedial classes. Wish me luck!!!
I will keep everyone posted on my progress!

New Vera Bradley patterns will make their debut in a couple weeks on July 8, 2010!! I simply cannot wait!!! I have only seen a glimpse of the new patterns, but I am already in love with at least 2 of the new patterns! Very Berry Paisley and Slate Blooms are my faves!! I am uncertain if new styles will be released or not, but I do know that my fave, the bucket bag, is retiring! I hope a similar style will follow!

Also, as I was searching the web for new Vera patterns and styles, I ran across this limited edition bag, and I just have to have it!!! It is the Tropical Silk Kelly bag~ I have posted a photo!

Ok, so I am totally NOT complaining about eBay itself; just having to deal with the whole world is trying at times. I have really come to realize that no matter what you do there is ALWAYS going to be someone out there that you simply cannot please. Selling things on eBay is completly different than making my own products and selling those. At least I know if there is a mistake with a candle that I am the one to blame! But with eBay products if there is a problem it is due to the manufacturer, not me. Very irritating!!
But as I said before, I am not complaining about eBay itself; just ranting this morning!! Everyone rants about their jobs, right?!?! So, there it is - this is my job and I am ranting! :/
Another irritating aspect of eBay is feedback... Ok, I totally understand why and I am even guilty of judging sellers by their feedback, but wow people! This is like your credit score! And I find myself fretting over customers who wont leave feedback at all! I am totally obsessed with sending out feedback reminders so that I can maintain my rankings! This is getting a little ridiculous! Now, I just received my 1st negative feedback over the weekend, and BOY was I disapointed! Ruined my whole day! I wonder if buyers really know how important leaving feedback really is?? Don't they know this is my livelyhood?!?!? :) This customer who left me negative feedback was upset that her product did not work in the UK; ok, I get that, but penalize ME for that?? I didn't make the product! Oh well, so I now have 99.8% positive feedback and I just know how it looks to buyers!

Ok, I know I have ranted long enough about things that you all will find miniscule, I am sure. That being said, I hope everyone has a Blessed day!!! Keep your heads up and put on a happy face!!!!

Spring has sprung!

I can't believe I am saying this, but I am SO happy that Spring has arrived! I am usually not a Spring / Summer lover, but this year is different for some reason! I have had Spring fever for quite a while now!! I am SO tired of seeing dead grass, and twigs for trees! I am ready for everything to be green and beautiful! Spring is definently late here in Georgia this year! Usually by now everything is in full bloom! But I have only seen a few lonley daffodils around. :( With all that being said, I have also changed the look of my candle site to reflect the new season! Twighlight Saga

Ok, I finally broke down and watched Twighlight last night! I know I am probably the last person on Earth to see it, but I really have been putting it off because I didn't want to become a Twighlight nut!! So, I watched it, and drooled the entire time...goodness I think they put subliminal messages in there! I couldn't turn away! Why? I don't even know what it is about it!! Scary. So, today I am off to Barnes & Noble to buy the books! I am so weak!

Alex Cross' latest installment

I am a huge James Patterson fan, especially his Alex Cross series. So when his latest installment, I, Alex Cross, was released I was at Barnes `N Noble rigt away to get my copy! Well....I shouldn't have been in such a rush to pay full hardcover price for this one.... It is just plain horrible! It took me nearly 2 months to get through it!! I finally finished it up last night, and boy, what a relief! On JamesPatterson.com, he says, "Buy this book or I will have to kill off Alex Cross..." What???? This book is nothing to be boasting about! I am very disapointed, yet, I can't wait for the next release! Hopefully the next book will be more like the previous books in the series. Stay on subject please!

Weight Loss....oh my

Ok, so like 90% of the world, I have decided to loose weight this year! Every morning I listen to the radio on my way to take the kids to school, and every morning I hear SEVERAL ads for Ultra 90....after 3 years of hearing these ads, I have finally decided to jump on the band wagon and try it! I received my 3 bottles in the mail yesterday and I took my first dose this morning. As of right now, I don't feel jittery, nauseous or anything at all for that matter!! I chose the AM formula in which I take 3 pills an hour before I eat anything in the morning. I am just hoping this stuff works as good as Moby in the Morning says it does!! Last year around this time, I listened to a different radio station in the morning and their "temporary" host had also taken Ultra 90 with much success. Everything I have ever read about it has always been very positive! I will definently keep my progress posted!!

And with the New Year, New Me campaign, I have decided to change up the look of my website to match with the seasons from now on. I just get SO tired of seeing the same ole thing day in and day out... and I need to realize that this is MY company and to stop listening to some people's negative comments and do what I feel is right for my business! :)

With that said, I am off to change things up a little!!! Stay tuned!

Christmas is over...

I can't believe that Christmas 2009 is already over! This year has passed by so quickly. So, with the holidays behind me, my busy season is also behind me. No one wants candles after Christmas...I wonder why that is? I burn candles year round, doesn't everyone?? I now have to revamp my site and remove all of my Christmas scents, and add spring scents! I can't believe I am saying the word Spring already! I need to slow down and cherish the winter! Maybe I will add some Valentine scents before I get ahead of myself with the Spring scents. Yeah, that sounds good - so be on the lookout for romantic scents!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!! And Happy New Year to all!!

Oh My!! Wow, I am swamped with candle orders!!! Thank you to everyone for your continued patronage!! Halloween has come and gone and now can you believe Thanksgiving is just 2 shorts weeks away?!?! Then Christmas will be upon us! I have already begun my Christmas shopping as to avoid the holiday rush! I know I have been slack about posting, but I honestly have been too busy to it in front of my pc!! With all of my candle making and eBay posting, I have barely found the time to cook a hot meal for my family! :) I wish I could hire an employee, but sadly, I could not afford to pay anyone! So I am left to do it all myself! I did, however, hire a housekeeper last week. WOW!!! Totally worth every penny! I have never had a housekeeper before, so I was totally blown away! I am now spoiled! It is so nice to be able to focus on my work rather than try to work and clean house too! Christmas candle making is in full swing now and my workshop smells like Balsam and Cedar! Yum!! Definently making me want to turn on some Christmas tunes already!!

Wow, I LOVE Fall!! The leaves in Northern Georgia are just spectacular!! My family and I drove up to to Dawsonville, GA yesterday for the Moonshine festival; what fun!!! Attending festivals never gets old for me! I absolutely love it!! I wish I could have been a vedor at more festivals this year, but the bad economy has it's nasty grip on my company!! Errrrr!!! Anyhow, I can still visit as a customer. :) So, all you folks get out there and support all of those hard-working crafters out there!!

Ok! So, I am pleased to announce that I have officially changed my company name to Cane Creek Candle Co.!!! And as of Oct. 15, 2009 I will no longer be adding dye to my candles. I have put a lot of thought into this decision over the past year or so, and I have finally decided to go with it. I want to make 100% all natural candles, and adding dye means they have some chemicals in them. They burn better without dye also!! So, I hope I will not disapoint anyone with my decision! :)

Ok, so I have been in the candle business now for 5 1/2 years now and for the most part all has been pleasant. I recently made a business deal with a potential wholesale client in good faith. NEVER again will I trust ANYONE! I should've stuck with my policies listed on my site and all would have been fine. But I made an exception for someone and BOY did I get burned! Dummy me made and shipped out candles without receiving payment first. Now, of course, the client does not want to pay. Stating that my candles cost too much....something that should have been taken into consideration BEFORE making a purchase!! I explained that she bought the candles knowing the price, and that she needed to pay up. Good grief...how hard is that to understand??!?! Why does someone always want something for free! That is why small businesses in America are struggling!!! Cheap People!!! We pay for quality. If she wanted a cheap product; she should've gone to Wal-Mart!!!

Hooked on Alex Cross...but.....

Ok, so couldn't wait to buy James Patterson's new Alex Cross novel, Trial. I even went to Barnes and Noble a week too early thinking it came out on that date...but the sales person informed me that it came out the following week! Anyway, so I went back a week later and purchased the book. I have been putting it off reading it because I have been so busy....but I managed to find the time on Sunday to begin the book. WOW!! I should have read it sooner!! I couldn't put it down!! It is not about Alex Cross at all! It is about small town Mississippi in the early 1900's when lynching was a popular source of entertainment for white folks. It amazes me just how ignorant people were back then. I am happy that James Patterson wrote this book bringing the horror of our Southern past to his readers. For those of you avid readers out there, get this book!! Even if you are not a James Patterson fan, you will love this read. Alex Cross's Trial is unlike any other Alex Cross book you will read. Set back in early 1900's at the end of slavery, Ben Corbett is a young, energetic lawyer in Washington, DC who takes on the cases of the those who are poor and unfortunate. He has beautiful twin daughters and a wife who is unhappy with his lack of ambition. This was not the lifestyle she envisioned for her and her family and tells him that she's had enough and she'll be leaving him.

One day Ben gets called to the White House to meet with President Teddy Roosevelt. He can't begin to imagine what the President wants to meet with him about. The President has a special assignment for Ben. He wants him to go back to Eudora, Mississippi, his hometown, where a rash of lynching's has been occurring as well as the what appears to be the re-emergence of the Ku Klux Klan and to report his findings back. He will be setting Ben up with a man all to familiar with the horrific happenings ~ Abraham Cross and his grand daughter Moody.

While in Eudora Ben hopes that his time away will give his wife time to think and hopefully change her mind. When Ben arrives in Eudora he goes to visit his father. A man who is as spiteful as he is cold hearted. After getting that out of the way, Ben checks into a local bed and breakfast and sets out to meet with Abraham. When he arrives at Abraham's home he meets his granddaughter/protector Moody. She is hesitant to let the "white man" into her home, but when her grandfather explains why he is here, she reluctantly lets him in. Abraham begins to take Ben around and he is horrified by what he sees. Including the hanging body of a man who has just been lynched. Ben prepares a report and sends a wire to the White House explaining what he's discovered. While waiting to hear back, Ben runs into some old friends. Friends he had been close with and he had missed. Friends that were friends until they turned on him. Friends that will stop at nothing, even potentially lynching him, to get him to back off and leave town. Unfortuantely for them, Ben won't back down.

All of this leads up to one night of extreme violence that will have Ben fighting the biggest, toughest case of his life. One that just happens to his cold hearted father presiding over. Ben knows that he and his co-counsel are fighting an uphill battle, but they refuse to give up trying to get justice.

Alex Cross's Trial is not your typical James Patterson Alex Cross book. It has a different perspective that makes the reader now see all of the books in this series in a new light. The "author" of the Alex Cross series, is not James Patterson, but Alex Cross himsef. In the preface he (Alex Cross) explains that while writing his last novel (Cross Country) about his chase of the Tiger he would frequently return to one of his favorite stories that Nana Mama would tell him about their family history. And he figured that now was the perfect time to tell the story. I really enjoyed this book. It brought me back to a place in history that defined the world today. It was full of passion and deceit and one man's quest to change the world

What a week!

Well, if I ever get over the flu this year it will be a blessing! I have been stuffy, had a soar throat, and couldn't talk for a week now!! Now all of my candle orders have been delayed...and my customers aren't too happy! So, I made myself go to the gym this morning and vow to have my orders all made by Monday! :) Busy weekend for me! This week flew by, though...and as I was checking the kid's Friday folders, it occured to me that they have been in school now for 6 weeks already!!! Where have I been? Before I can blink it will be time for Santa! I hope it doesn't pass my by as quickly as it did last year! I love this time of year and I want to savor it!! I made a "quick" trip to WalMart today with my best friend, Angie, just to get some milk, and of course I came out of there with $17 worth of stuff!!! It never fails! Anyway my trip was worth my while because they had the new Febreez Air Effects Autumn Spice sprays on sale 2 for $4!!! If you have never tried that scent, GO GET IT NOW!!! It is amazing!!!!! I need to stock up so I can have it all year long!!! :)

So, today is Friday...is that good or bad? Well, being as though I don't get much needed work done on the weekends; it's bad. September officially kicked off my busy season, and let me just say that it is already in FULL SWING! I am already swamped with candle orders!! I have been pouring like a mad woman lately! I'm not complaining by no means; it's just business! And I love my job!

So, we just recently moved to Dacula, GA. For those of you who aren't familar, we are in Gwinnett County; about 30 miles northeast of Atlanta. I love it here! It is very peaceful and serene! However, I am beginning to feel a little left out because everyone around here seems to have horses! And I mean everyone! I have even seen them in people's front yards!! No kidding! I had horses as a kid, and I just remember how relaxing it was riding them. Anyway, I am rambling!

I must go now...candles are calling!!

Ok, so this is my first blog post EVER!! Yes, I am jumping on the blogger band wagon. I was feeling left out... So, summer is almost over. YES!!! I am just going to miss this opressive heat here in the South! Yeah right! I am so looking forward to Autumn! And yes, even here in the deep South we get cool crisp air! Fall is the best time of year, in my opinion for many reasons. Not only do we get a break from the 100% humidity, but we get to see the beautiful, warm colors of the leaves changing color in the North GA mountains. The smell of caramel corn, and fried goodness lingering from the county fairgrounds, and the roar of a good football game! Here in the South, we pretty much breath football! Whether it is a Friday night Highschool game under the lights, or watching the Dawgs play on Saturday....it's all good! So, with that being said, I must say GO DAWGS!!! And so, I am bringing my first post to a close, for fear that I may just ramble on for hours!
